1st Sunday of Advent (2nd December, 2018)
First Reading: Jer 33: 14-16 (Shoot of righteousness)
Second Reading: 1 Thess 3: 12 – 4: 2 (Live in a way that pleases God)
Gospel: Lk 21: 25-28, 34-36 (Your deliverance is near)
Through the Gospel of Luke our Lord Jesus is reiterating the need to be awake, spiritually. It is human to be sinful and follow wrong directions but it is divine to follow His directives. Overcoming Temptation is what lord is expecting us for the simple reason that our time is unpredictable . Kingdom of God is it at hand and the time of it is unknown.
Procrastination is a seed sown by the evil one in our minds. It is up to us to decide whether or not to nurture it. Here and now is the best way to counter it and get rid of our wrong ways of life.
Pondering through the second reading, what Saint Paul talks to us is all about love; loving your neighbour as yourself- we are motivated to pray to God so that we receive the Grace to follow his commands.
As we proceed our journey through this advent full of Grace, let us be qualified in every moment. Amen.
