3rd Week of Advent (21st December, 2018)

First Reading: Song 2:8-14 (Zeph 3:14-18a) (Arise, my love)
Gospel: Lk 1 :39-45 (Blessed is the fruit of your womb)

The Gospel is about Mary visiting Elizabeth. No sooner Elizabeth met Mary, the child in her womb leapt and Elizabeth was filled with the holy spirit and then she spoke: –

“blessed are you amongst women and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”

In our prayer to the mother. Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with you, are the words of Angel Gabriel followed by the words of Elizabeth.

The very nearness of Jesus in the womb of Mary not only fills the Holy Spirit to the baby; more than that even Elizabeth was filled in with the Holy Spirit and then she spoke which until today is being repeated by all.

As we meditate on these verses, let’s pray for the Lord to come near and the baby Jesus to bless us with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
