Octave of Christmas (Monday 31st December, 2018)
First Reading: 1 Jn 2:18-21 (Anointing from Holy One)
Gospel: Jn 1 :1-18 (The Word became flesh)
John starts the gospel quite similar to genesis but with reference to Christ. For us, it is obviously a new beginning.
This light came to have life in him and darkness cannot overpower it. And also, the light shines in the dark.
John the Baptist was sent by God as a witness to Christ to speak of this light so that every one will believe through John.
The word was the light but the world did not know him. Whoever accepted him became children of God.
The word became man, lived with us and we witnessed that glory.
Grace and truth came to us through Jesus Christ who is the only son of god and who made god known to us.
As 2018 departs, the new light of 2019 should enlighten us.
The way was made by John the Baptist and word became flesh through Christ, as the light to this world so as to overpower the darkness of sin for our salvation.
Let us be thankful to the lord for every blessing we received and every challenge that made us stronger right through this year. Asking pardon for all the sins that we have committed knowingly or unknowingly.
Praying to the lord almighty to bless us all to have a joyful and blessed year 2019. Amen.
Wish you all a Wonderful New Year 2019!
